WOW! The MEM Makes Films
MEM - Centre des mémoires montréalaises
A lot of research goes into developing the content of our exhibitions. And in the course of that research…WOW! We come across never-before-seen archives, family photos, home movies, amazing objects, and people with moving stories to tell. Come and chat with Catherine Charlebois, our head curator, and the various guests she’ll be inviting to present these treasures from Montréal history.
For this WOW! event, Catherine will talk with filmmaker Antonio Pierre de Almeida. They’ll explain how, combining museology and documentary filmmaking, the MEM and its multimedia team collected over one hundred testimonials from Montrealers to produce dozens of audio and audiovisual clips revealing the city’s history from diverse perspectives. These two long-time collaborators will explore documentary filmmaking in a museum context, using concrete examples from the productions featured in the MEM’s permanent exhibitions.
