History and Heritage: A Civic Matter! With the Atelier d’histoire Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve

MEM - Centre des mémoires montréalaises

From September to April, the MEM and the Laboratoire d’histoire et de patrimoine de Montréal at UQAM will be holding a one-day gathering every month to explore citizens’ involvement in history and heritage. Historical societies and Montréal heritage organizations will visit the museum to talk about their missions, areas of expertise and actions: the production, presentation and sharing of historical knowledge; participation in cultural and community life; and actions to protect our heritage. Come and chat with their members . . . and perhaps get involved!

For this fourth event promoting cultural mediation and the dissemination of historical knowledge, we’re delighted to welcome the Atelier d’histoire Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve. Representatives from the Atelier will lead two activities:

  • The iconographic catalogue of the Atelier d’histoire Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve
Discover the Atelier’s treasures through its iconographic catalogue and learn how this unique platform was created.
  • The heritage dilemma
Using concrete examples from Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, the Atelier invites you to assess the heritage value of buildings and think about which ones should be preserved.

Activities are ongoing between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. in the MEM’s public spaces.
