Lessons learned from social movements: inspiration and teachings from HIV/AIDS activists

MEM - Centre des mémoires montréalaises

When a public health crisis occurs, every effort is made to rapidly identify the source. Marginalized communities are often turned into scapegoats and the rights of individuals and communities are violated. At the same time, epidemics like HIV/AIDS offer countless opportunities for groups to join forces and defend human rights. How does the community sector mobilize and organize in the context of a pandemic? What are the lessons learned? How can we better prepare for future crises? Representatives of community organizations share their experiences and discuss how they can be adapted and used to inspire other organizations.

First come, first seated.

This event is bilingual. We will invite guests and participants to speak in their own language.
