TEENS – The Power of Typography With Supersystème

MEM - Centre des mémoires montréalaises

Attention-grabbing design

Presented as part of the exhibition Active Grieving: The Aesthetic Activism of ACT UP Montréal, this workshop invites participants to think about the power of images and words to get across important ideas. By playing with letters, words, images and typographic compositions, you’ll discover how graphic design can attract attention and create a powerful message.

Create your own campaign

Which cause is close to your heart? Do you get fired up about the environment, inclusion, mental health or another issue? In this workshop, you’ll get to create a visual identity for an awareness campaign. Using simple cutting, photocopying, fabric painting and typographic composition techniques, you’ll create a button and a banner with your message.

Experiment and express yourself

You’ll get to test different ways of communicating visually while developing your creative instincts. You’ll discover how graphic design can support ideas, rally people around a cause, and become a valuable tool in conveying a message.

General information

The activity is for teens aged 12 to 17 years. No experience in art or design required — just a desire to create, experiment and share your ideas! All material is provided and you can leave with your creations at the end of the workshop.
