Les Entretiens Jacques Cartier Making arts and culture accessible. From theory to practice.
Rethinking the cultural experience together
As part of Entretiens Jacques Cartier, the MEM is partnering with UQAM, Kéroul, the City of Montréal and the City of Lyon to offer a co-creation workshop followed by a panel discussion. This activity invites those involved in accessibility, arts and culture professionals, and the general public to reflect on the lived experiences of people with disabilities in cultural spaces.
From museums to cultural events
In 2024, the MEM was awarded a triple Kéroul certification for its accessibility measures for visitors who are blind or partially sighted, deaf or hard of hearing, or who have limited mobility. Through an interactive workshop, participants will be invited to examine each stage of a visit to the museum in order to identify obstacles, successes and ideas on how to make the visitor experience even more inclusive.
Sharing perspectives and practices
The critical reflection exercise will continue with a panel discussion about inclusion in festivals and cultural events. Corinne De Langhe (Kéroul), Christian Roche (AMAAC and Collectif du pack accessibilité universelle) and Fanny Badey (Nuits de Fourvière) will share their experiences, challenges and ideas for action to promote more equitable cultural participation.
Practical information
The co-creation workshop will run from 1:30 to 3:15 p.m., followed by the panel discussion from 3:45 to 5:15 p.m. This activity is open to all who are interested in accessibility and inclusion in the cultural sector.
