Maisonneuve 1976. If Only Marius Could See This...

from Jul 10, 2026 to Dec 27, 2026
Château Dufresne, musée et lieu historique patrimonial

1976 was a fascinating year during which two sites envisioned by Marius Dufresne took center stage. Maisonneuve Park, a magnificent nature park he designed in the early 20th century, underwent major transformations in its southern section, where the facilities and structures built for the Olympic complex would become the Olympic Park we know today. Meanwhile, on the neighboring site, in the shadow of the Olympics, the future of the Maison Dufresne was seriously threatened due to advanced deterioration after years of neglect. A wave of citizen mobilization ultimately led to its designation as a historic monument by the Government of Quebec in 1976.
