Montreal's museums

The Avataq Cultural Institute ensures the conservation, documentation and enhancement of the language and heritage of the Inuit of Nunavik with its vast collection of archives, archaeological objects, works of art and material culture.

Montreal’s portal to its past, the Château Ramezay, was the first building in Québec to be classified an historic monument. Chosen as one of the 1001 Historic Sites You Must See Before You Die, the Château invites you to relive more than 500 years of history through its exhibits, its multimedia circuit (in six languages) and its French colonial garden.

Along the St. Lawrence River, Maison Nivard-De Saint-Dizier is an outstanding example of rural architecture of the New France. The house, built in 1710, sit on an archeological, revealing indigenous occupation that dates 5, 500 years ago.

Musée de Lachine brings the past to life. Tour the historical buildings, visit the temporary exhibition, stroll the sculpture garden and enjoy free cultural activities to experience the many facets of Lachine's history.

In addition to the permanent exhibitions and archaeological remains housed within Pointe-à-Callière, the museum also presents temporary exhibitions of national and international scope, as well as several cultural activities for all ages.
