The Story of the Dodo

Redpath museum
This new mini-exhibition at the Redpath Museum showcases real dodo bones and historic casts of the dodo (Raphus cucullatus), the charismatic bird that went extinct in the late 17th century.
The exhibition offers a unique look at pieces from the collections of the Redpath Museum, the Maude Abbott Medical Museum, and the Blacker-Wood Natural History Collection from Rare Books and Special Collections, McGill University Libraries.

Conchologycitus: The Abe Levine Shell Collection
Showcasing over 1,200 gem-quality shells never displayed before, this exhibit honours the philanthropy of Abe Levine, Quebec's premiere mollusc collector.

World Cultures
The World Cultures Gallery presents approximately 500 cultural belongings, including domestic and ceremonial objects, ornaments, and musical instruments. Highlights include archaeological collections from Ancient Egypt, the Mediterranean region, and Mesoamerica, as well as 19th- and 20th-century objects originating from Asia, Oceania, South America, and Africa.

Species must constantly interact with one another simply to continue to exist. Our successful survival depends entirely on biological diversity and the resources that our planet provides. This exhibit about Quebec's Biodiversity increases awareness of and re-asserts respect for the province's natural environment.

Herbert Gerald Macklin: A citizen scientist of earlier times
This new exhibition at the Redpath Museum features botanical illustrations by Herbert Gerald Macklin, whose works demonstrate a remarkable attention to detail. The paintings selected for the exhibition come from the McGill University Herbarium’s collection of botanical illustrations.
