Featuring readings by Pascale Bussières and Alexis Martin, the documentary La ville d'un rêve (2022, 74 min.) traces the history of Montreal's first 30 years from the perspective of Jeanne Mance, and the dream that preceded its creation.
Film synopsis: Montreal was born of a dream, the dream of people who believed in the possibility of creating a better world in New France. Who were these people? What ideals did they pursue, and why? The answers are to be found in a 17th-century manuscript that is clearly the hidden memoirs of Jeanne Mance. With an original and personal approach, the filmmaker revisits this story, in which the past resonates with an ever-present desire to create a world closer to humanist values.
