Gardens: Where History And Food Meet (in English)
Maison Saint-Gabriel, historic site and museum
The Filles du Roy Living History Group – Montréal / Montérégie presents food traditions in New France and period recipes. They explore the role of gardens and plants in the settlers’ diet, with comparisons to the diet of the seigneurs and to the food served during the Atlantic crossing.
Maureen Wilhelm Blanc presents the role of apothecaries and herbalists, as well as medicinal plant gardens in New France. Visitors are invited to create their own herbarium page using plants from the Maison Saint‑Gabriel gardens.
