Avataq cultural institute

Created in 1980 following the first Nunavik Elders' Conference, the Avataq Cultural Institute has the mandate to protect and promote the Inuktitut language and the culture of Nunavimmiut (Inuit of Nunavik). Avataq is an Inuit organization that aims to conserve, document, disseminate and enhance works of art, documentary archives, archaeological collections from Nunavik and material culture for the benefit of present and future generations of Nunavik.
